Making Style Guides Almost Broke Me (But Lowkey Made Me Better)

Making Style Guides Almost Broke Me (But Lowkey Made Me Better)

Not gonna lie… the style guides were the hardest part of building this whole website. I’m always putting outfits together in my head, very like, constantly, but actually laying them out visually? I felt like a toddler learning shapes. On a real, scrollable, clickable map? It’s 10x harder.

It’s been draining… but also kinda satisfying. Can't wait for yall to see it!

Trying to match colorways, build out looks that feel intentional, and still stick to a vibe that makes sense has been teaching me how to actually style. Not just piece outfits together, but to curate (that was sxy lol). And don’t even get me started on the inspo overload: Pinterest, Tumblr, TikTok, random Instagram saves at 2AM... it’s a lot. But it really made me appreciate all the stylist girlies out there because, whew! just making five full looks can take me all day.

BE GRATEFULLL. I'm starting to realize why people don't do this and just post the pics and hope ppl figure it out

Like, there are so many options. You don’t want to throw something random in just to fill space. You don’t want to link a $12,000 skirt like, “Hey bestie, add to cart :) .” You want the look to hit, be somewhat realistic, and still inspire.

That’s the thing though, these guides? They’re not meant to be copied piece by piece. They’re inspiration boards. (PICK AND PEICE) Starting points. And I love that. But yeah… making them almost broke me!
